Part-time position:  24 hours per week, flexible shifts
$49 - $50 per hour


MAIN FUNCTION:

  • To assist in maintaining the highest quality of care to all patients.
  • Understanding of Addiction, Medication for Addiction Treatment (MAT), and the stigmatism associated with terminology and treatment of addiction and MAT.
  • To act as health coordinator.
  • User role(s) information systems access as assigned, where applicable.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Document all pertinent nursing care matters in client’s EMR.
  • Provide Nursing Assessment and consultation to perspective and actual patients.
  • Maintain records of all infection control matters pertaining to patients and/or staff.
  • Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
  • Maintain log (if applicable) for medications or other solutions (ie., PPD solution, Naltrexone, Buprenorphine) stored at facility along with destruction/expiration information.
  • Assure the provision of education, risk reduction, counseling and referral services to all patients regarding HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, hepatitis, sexually transmitted diseases and other communicable diseases.
  • Follow universal precautions and utilize the appropriate infection control measures.
  • Supervise same sex urine sample collection for toxicology.
  • Administer breathalyzer and alcohol swabs.
  • Attend job related meetings and inservice lectures.
  • Inform office manager of general office and medical supplies as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Perform Admission Nursing Assessment and make appropriate nursing diagnoses based on that assessment.
  • Assess client’s psychiatric history and current psychiatric status.
  • Administer medications as ordered by the physician (MAT programs), understand basic pharmacology, planting and reading of PPDs (intradermal skin test).
  • Proficient in basic nursing skills and competent in taking an electrocardiogram and blood pressure.
  • Age specific clinical skills related to the adolescent and geriatric client.
  • Proficient in computer usage including EMR system, Microsoft Outlook and other information systems.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Current New York State Registered Nurse licensure, CPR certification.
