Description

MAIN FUNCTION:

  • To follow direction given by Director of the Environment of Care in order to facilitate upkeep of all buildings owned or operated by Seafield.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in preparing and painting of rooms and spaces of the facility.
  • Participate in regular maintenance rounds including cleaning, rubbish pickup and disposal, outdoor maintenance including lighting, fences, gates and snow removal.
  • Be available for any task assigned by the Manager of the Environment of Care.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Basic understanding of building maintenance
  • Painting (Prep & Clean Up)
  • Grounds & Snow Removal
  • Power Tool Safety
  • Willingness to learn

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school education or equivalent. Basic mechanical aptitude; some experience or interest in the maintenance field.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to travel to Seafield facilities in Nassau and Suffolk.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those functions that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to twist, bend, push, pull, lift, kneel, reach, stoop, crawl and climb stairs. This position is very active and requires standing and walking all day.
  • The employee is frequently required to use hands to grasp or feel and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • The worker is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned and makes general observations.
  • The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.
