MAIN FUNCTION:
-To assist in maintaining a high level of care to all clients.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
RN
-Accept responsibility for all written physician orders.
-Engage in Nursing Assessment of current patient population through report upon arrival on duty.
-Keep Director of Nursing and the Clinical Department updated on all significant client matters.
-Document all pertinent nursing care matters in client’s EMR.
-Pick up all physicians’ orders. Medications will be entered in the medication administration record. Treatments and consultations will be entered in the day book, MAR; and EMR.
-Maintain records of all infection control matters pertaining to patients and or staff.
-Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
-Assist in record keeping and execution of pre-employment physical examinations assist in yearly employee test.
-Follow universal precautions and utilize the appropriate infection control measures.
-Attend job related meetings and in-service lectures.
-Inform charge nurse of general office supplies and Nursing Supervisor of medical supplies as needed.
-Perform other duties as assigned.
COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS:
RN
-Perform Admission Nursing Assessment and make appropriate nursing diagnoses based on that assessment.
-Assess client’s psychiatric history and current psychiatric status.
-Initiate appropriate Nursing Care Plans and complete Treatment Plan Reviews.
-Administer medications as ordered by the physician, understand basic pharmacology, and be proficient in the use of a nebulizer, and planting PPDs.
-Proficient in basic nursing skills and also competent in taking an electrocardiogram, accucheck for diabetes, and intoximeter.
-Assess detoxing clients and medicate appropriately.
-Age specific clinical skills related to the adolescent and geriatric client.
-Proficient in computer usage including EMR system, Microsoft Outlook and other information systems.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Current New York State LPN or RN license; current CPR certification; and Oxygen Therapy certification.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those functions that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
- The employee is required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach.
- Assist in ambulation and transfer of patients as necessary.
- The position may on occasion require the employee to stoop kneel or crouch.
- The worker is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned and makes general observations.
