Hourly Rate: $75.00 – $80.00
MAIN FUNCTION:
- To provide medical care of the patient while at Seafield Center and to ensure all newly admitted patients are medically stable for admission and participation in our programs.
- Understanding of Addiction, Medication for Addiction Treatment (MAT), and the stigma associated with terminology and treatment of addiction and MAT.
- Use information systems access as assigned, when applicable.
- This position is classified as “Essential” for emergency closure purposes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs physical examination and mental status evaluation of each patient admitted.
- Upon admission, or within 24 hours of admission, provides an admitting or tentative diagnosis that becomes part of the client’s record.
- Writes initial orders for care of each patient upon admission in collaboration with the patient based upon the assessments and patient’s needs.
- Perform re-examination and treatment of each patient pertinent to physical and mental complaints, ranging from supportive reassurance to specific treatment of existing physical illness.
- Consults with outside physicians or dentists as needed.
- Adjust medications daily when indicated.
- Meets with patients prior to discharge to review medical status and to make appropriate referrals.
- Consults with family as to care, management and health of the patient when indicated.
- Ensures that the patient is informed of his/her rights either by direct information or through a designee.
- Ensures all consents are signed for medical treatment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
- The employee is required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, to handle or feel and reach.
- Assist in ambulation and transfer of patients as necessary.
- The position may on occasion require the employee to stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- The worker is required to have enough visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned and make general observations.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
At least one year substance use disorders treatment experience. A physician, either M.D. or D.O, or PA or NP who is licensed to practice in the state of New York. A.S.A.M. membership encouraged but not required.
