MAIN FUNCTION:
-To assist in maintaining a high level of care to all clients.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
LPN
Performs the following nursing duties as assigned by the Registered Nurse:
-Engage in nursing assessment of current client population through obtaining report upon arrival of shift.-Document all pertinent nursing care matters in client’s EMR.
-Pick up all physicians’ orders. Medications will be entered in the medication administration record. Treatments and consultations will be entered in the day book, MAR; and EMR.
-Review all physicians’ orders with the Registered Nurse in charge.
-Follow universal precautions and utilize the appropriate infection control measures.
-Prepare patients and assist the physician with physical exams.
-Keep staff informed, both verbally and in writing, of significant matters pertaining to the clients.
-Attend job related meetings and in-services.
-Perform other duties as assigned.
COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS:
LPN
-Perform assessment under supervision of Registered Nurse.
-Administer medication as ordered by the physician, understand basic pharmacology, be proficient in the use of nebulizer, and planting PPD’s and IM injections.
-Proficient in basic nursing skills and also competent in taking an electrocardiogram, accuchecks for diabetics, and intoximeters.
-Proficient in computer usage including EMR system, Microsoft Outlook and other information systems.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Current New York State LPN license; current CPR certification; and Oxygen Therapy certification.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those functions that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
- The employee is required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach.
- Assist in ambulation and transfer of patients as necessary.
- The position may on occasion require the employee to stoop kneel or crouch.
- The worker is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned and makes general observations.
$30.00 - $31.00
