MAIN FUNCTION:
- To assist in maintaining the highest quality of care to all patients.
- Understanding of Addiction, Medication for Addiction Treatment (MAT), and the stigma associated with terminology and treatment of addiction and MAT.
- To act as health coordinator.
- User role(s) information systems access as assigned, where applicable.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Document all pertinent nursing care matters in client’s EMR.
- Provide Nursing Assessment and consultation to perspective and actual patients.
- Maintain records of all infection control matters pertaining to patients and/or staff.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
- Maintain log (if applicable) for medications or other solutions (ie., PPD solution, Naltrexone, Buprenorphine) stored at facility along with destruction/expiration information.
- Assure the provision of education, risk reduction, counseling and referral services to all patients regarding HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, hepatitis, sexually transmitted diseases and other communicable diseases.
- Follow universal precautions and utilize the appropriate infection control measures.
- Supervise same-sex urine sample collection for toxicology.
- Administer breathalyzer and alcohol swabs.
- Attend job related meetings and in-service lectures.
- Inform office manager of general office and medical supplies as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS:
- Perform Admission Nursing Assessment and make appropriate nursing diagnoses based on that assessment.
- Assess client’s psychiatric history and current psychiatric status.
- Administer medications as ordered by the physician (MAT programs), understand basic pharmacology, planting and reading of PPDs (intradermal skin test).
- Proficient in basic nursing skills and competent in taking an electrocardiogram and blood pressure.
- Age specific clinical skills related to the adolescent and geriatric client.
- Proficient in computer usage including EMR system, Microsoft Outlook and other information systems.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
- The employee is required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach.
- The position may on occasion require the employee to stoop kneel or crouch.
- The worker is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned and make general observations.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Current New York State Registered Nurse licensure, and/or LPN license, CPR certification.
