MAIN FUNCTION:

To counsel and assist clients with chronic conditions in an outpatient substance abuse rehabilitation setting on their vocational/educational goals. Emphasis on development of basic skills in prevocational, vocational, and community competencies; personal care and nutrition.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead Vocational and Social Skills groups in Day Treatment (outpatient rehabilitation level of care) program.
• Assess client’s overall job readiness by gathering information on client’s past work history, vocational/educational goals, progress in treatment, transportation, living situation etc.
• Counsel clients on resume writing and interview skills if they have legal barriers to employment or lapses in employment
• Complete ACCESVR paperwork with clients and set up Orientation appointments with ACCES-VR once paperwork is completed
• Maintain relationship with ACCESVR liaison
• Assist CASAC counselors with issues or concerns regarding clients in Day Treatment Program including one on one counseling sessions and performing toxicology screening.

COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS:

• Strong counseling skills both in groups and one on one sessions
• Ability to multitask and be a team player
• Working knowledge of ACCESVR policies and procedures
• One year experience or more providing recreation, occupation and/or rehabilitation services
• Experience in substance abuse treatment facilities a plus

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master of Science degree in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling
• CRC (Certified Rehabilitation Counselor) Certification
